2012 RE/Mixed Media Festival Staff

  • Tom Tenney (Founder, Festival Director)-  Tom has been producing theatrical events since the 1980′s and ran a performance venue calle SPACE in the East Village from 2001-2003. His long-running late-night series Grindhouse-A-Go-Go! was the flagship show at Surf Reality’s House of Urban Savages on the Lower East Side from 1998-2002. He’s worked with a diverse group of artists – from Robert Wilson to Seka – and his work as a producer, director, and performer has been seen in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, and several cities throughout Europe.   Tom is also a sound artist and designer, whose pieces have been heard on PRX Remix Radio, GMFE Sound Experience in Chicago, Toronto’s 2011 Deep Wireless Festival and Streaming Festival, Sixth Edition. Tom got his M.A. in Media Studies from the New School in NYC and his B.F.A. (Bachelor of Fun Arts) from Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Bailey Clown College. Tom was recently selected as Jury President for the 2012 MAshRome Film Festival in Rome, Italy.  He currently teaches media theory at Hofstra University, and is working on a chapter about the RE/Mixed Media Festival for the Routledge Companion to Remix Studies, due out in 2014.

     

    Robert PrichardRobert Prichard (Talent Director) - Rob was the co-founder and proprietor of Surf Reality’s House of Urban Savages, a seventy seat black-box performance space on the Lower East Side that he ran from 1993-2003. Surf Reality continues to exist as a producing organization, and from 2003-present has produced several productions including Radical Vaudeville at Mo Pitkins and Bowery Poetry Club, and most recently, 64: A Vaudeville of the Mind at the HERE Spring Artist Lodge in 2012.

     

    Stephanie CorletoStephanie Corleto (Director of Programming & Promotions) - Stephanie is a communications and marketing professional for non-profits. She has worked with organizations including A.I.R Gallery and the Neuberger Museum of Art, and is currently with the French Institute Alliance Française. Stephanie received her BA in Art History from Purchase College and is pursuing her MA in Media Studies at The New School.

     

    Marie MundaceMarie Mundaca (Press Director) - Marie is a literary critic, storyteller, filmmaker, and an award-winning graphic designer. She works pro-bono for Breadpig, a publisher who donates profits to charity.

     

    Christopher Gorski (Production Manager) – Chris was the director of Eight oh One, a gallery and performance space in Milwaukee, WI from 2008-2009. As a photographer and filmmaker his works have been exhibited and screened in cities such as Milwaukee, WI, Portland, OR and Brooklyn, NY. He presently works for Housing Works, an NYC-based HIV/AIDS organization, studies at the New School for Public Engagement and is a 2012-2013 NSPE Fellow.

     

    Elena GarganiElena Gargani (Website/Production) - Hailing from Rome, Italy, Elena’s background is in Communication and Marketing where she’s worked for 10 years as a project manager, account manager, and content manager. She works with clients in entertainment and film on corporate image and branding, web sites, newsletters, and events. She is also a writer whose work has been published in journals and publications throughout Italy.
