Dr. Nitin Sawhney & Eduardo Navas engage in an open discussion with international artists about the global state of remix
The Framework of Culture, Remix, and Literature
Eduardo Navas will discuss his research on how the recycling of material, as currently understood in terms of remix, is at play in literary practice in relation to a feedback loop which forms The Framework of Culture.
RE/Mix in Literature: A Panel Discussion
Panel Discussion with Jonathan Ames, Eduardo Navas, Ed Champion, and McKenzie Wark
A remix in literature can be as simple as an alternative version of a text or as complex as cut-ups, literary collages, or multimedia retellings of literary works. No matter what you call it, remix in literature has a history as long as that of literature itself.
Remixing the Fan Experience: A Panel Discussion
This panel will discuss how we can incorporate old concepts, like waiting in line at the record store the day of an album’s release, with new technologies, like social networking. We’ll also cover the Kickstarter ideology, whether or not fan funding is a viable option for the majority of artists, and how this alters the artist-fan relationship.
